14 DAY TRIAL // Capcom is set to launch a downloadable epilogue for its recent Dead Rising 2 zombie hack and slash, Dead Rising 2: Case West, this month, as the company confirmed it on its official blog.
Dead Rising 2 was one of the biggest releases for Capcom this year, but its success was partly eclipsed by the runaway hit which was Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, a downloadable prequel which sold a lot of units for the Xbox 360.
Now, Capcom is seeking to replicate the success of the Case Zero with Case West, which will continue the events from the full pledged game, and see the hero of the original Dead Rising, Frank West, team up with Chuck Greene, who is the hero of the recent Dead Rising 2.
The two heroes will go on to investigate Fortune City, in order to prove that the evil pharmaceutical company Phenotrans is behind the zombie outbreaks.
"Set immediately after the events of Dead Rising 2 and available exclusively on Xbox LIVE, Dead Rising 2: CASE WEST sees Frank team up with Chuck Greene for some serious co-op action as the pair embarks on a brand new case set in the Phenotrans Facility on the outskirts of Fortune City," revealed Capcom.
"Here Chuck and Frank will face new challenges and new enemies but will also have access to new weapons, items and the ability to create a number of new Combo weapons such as the janitor’s favourite, the ‘Zap & Shine’ and the ominous sounding ‘Reaper’. Just as in the full game, players will have the opportunity to rescue human survivors who have so far escaped the clutches of the zombie horde. "
A much demanded feature for Dead Rising 2, the ability to take photos, will be present in this new DLC, as both Frank and Chuck will be able to snap up pictures of the zombies and the outbreak, in order to have proof against the company.
Dead Rising 2: Case West will be available later this month, exclusively for the Xbox 360 console, just like Case Zero, but PlayStation 3 owners still shouldn't feel alienated, Capcom says.
