The detective game needs polishing

Detective games aren't very popular with gamers, but that doesn't stop developers from creating new titles that get you to solve murder cases. Be it based on Sherlock Holmes or Hercule Poirot, a good detective game always puts you stranded in a remote location and with a mysterious case on your hands. The upcoming Dead Mountaineer's Hotel is no exception to this rule, putting the player in the shoes of Peter Glebski, who is tasked with solving the murder of a guest in a big hotel in the Alps.

Although it was slated for release this holiday season, the publisher of the game, Lighthouse Interactive, has just announced that, in order to further polish up the game and deliver a very enjoyable experience to players, the title will be delayed. Gamers will have to set aside their detective skills until 2009 when the game will finally hit the shelves.

"Dead Mountaineer's Hotel is a game with a wonderfully intricate plot. It is very important for us to ensure that we meet the expectations of the Adventure community by marrying a great story with fun gameplay and quality voiceovers. The additional production time will allow us to further polish the game and deliver a great experience," said Steve Wall, V.P. Business Development at Lighthouse Interactive.

The game is based on a novel written by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky and will feature multiple endings that depend on the actions of the player and how he will uncover the clues from the hotel. The cast is filled with colorful characters from a rich eccentric old man to an unusual doctor. One thing's for sure, the players are definitely going to put their brain to work in order to solve this mysterious puzzle.

As with any delay, it's better that the developers and publishers take their time with a title. Ensuring that the game is well balanced and polished is the most important thing for them and for the gamers, and if the experience is enjoyable, then it’s worth the wait.
