Publisher Deep Silver says that it plans to continue launching core games in the Dead Island series in the coming years, even if it is also devoting resources to the newly announced Epidemic, a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena spin-off.

Guido Eickmeyer, a creative director at the company, states in a Ask Me Anything session on Reddit that, “I would not expect the series to stop at this point.”

He adds, “I can only ask you to wait a bit further, then some really nice things will be revealed about the future of Dead Island.”

The development team at Techland that created the two games in the series is at the moment working on a new intellectual property called Hellraid.

The core ideas of the various Dead Island games are solid, but sometimes the execution fails to deliver the experience that players were expecting.

The Epidemic MOBA is expected to arrive before the end of the year.
