Well-known publishing house Bantam has announced that it is going to publish a novel based around the Dead Island video game from developer Techland and publisher Deep Silver, set to be launched at the same time as the game project.

The book will come in paperback format and will sell for 6.99 British Pounds in the United Kingdom and equivalent prices in other parts of the world.

The Dead Island concept is based around putting a number of characters on a paradise resort island in order to unleash a zombie apocalypse upon them and chart their efforts at surviving.

The five-star Royal Palms Resort on the island of Banoj is the setting for both the novel and the video game and the two media products will tell different aspects of the same overall narrative.

Mark Morris, has stated, “Having marvelled, like the rest of the world, at the stunning trailer earlier this year, I absolutely leaped at the opportunity to write the official Dead Island tie-in novel. This is a rich, exotic world of well-conceived characters, stunning locations and all-out zombie mayhem.”

He added, “What really attracted me to the project, however, was the fact that behind the nonstop action is a complex and multi-layered plot. I’m hugely excited and massively honoured to be a part of the Dead Island phenomenon.”

The author has first published Toady in 1989 to critical acclaims and since then he has put out a further sixteen books, including four linked to the well-known Doctor Who series.

In 2007 Mark Morris has received a British Fantasy Award for his edition work on Cinema Macabre, a collection of horror movie essays.

The Dead Island video game is set to arrive in the middle of September and has managed to create quite a buzz with its impressive slow motion launch trailer, which has received more than 10 million views and has been mentioned on Twitter by more than 6.2 million users.
