Techland, the developer of Dead Island, the new first person zombie shooter, has confirmed that it's currently focusing on releasing patches and updates for the game, instead of the previously promised downloadable content for the title published by Deep Silver.
Dead Island was released earlier this month and it's already shipped quite a lot of units, managing to impress many with its zombie killing experience set on a remote tropical island, as well as its pretty robust role playing mechanics.
Sadly, its release hasn't been without problems, especially on the PC, where an early and extremely buggy build of the game was initially deployed onto Steam for North American users. Since then, a couple of
patches were put out, bringing it to a complete edition and solving quite a lot of issues encountered by the developer after the game went gold.
Now, it seems that there are quite a lot of problems left, so Techland, together with Deep Silver, the game's publisher, released an official statement, via
Kotaku, saying that most of development team is now focused on eliminating these issues by releasing more updates and patches, so downloadable content might not appear as soon as some gamers had hoped for.
"Right now the Dead Island development team's priority is working on fixes and updates across all platforms so that we can take care of all of the fans who have been so supportive of our game," a representative from publisher Deep Silver stated.
This might mean that the upcoming
Bloodbath Arena DLC for Dead Island, which was announced earlier this week, might not be released this September, as originally promised.
"There is some awesome DLC content planned for Dead Island, but first we have to put all our focus on the base game experience," the representative added.
Dead Island is currently available on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
