Fans fearing that NBC might pull the plug on its long-running “Days of Our Lives” soap opera this year should be happy to learn that it’s not happening. The show has just been renewed through September 2014.

That means 2 more full years packed with the stories we love from the characters we love, as the tribute video above also puts it more or less in these words.

“We are thrilled to announce that ‘Days of our Lives’ is not going anywhere. It is NBC's longest-running drama series by far and is one of the most historic brands in television,” Jennifer Salke, president of NBC Entertainment, says in a statement.

“We commend Ken Corday and the entire creative team on continuing to keep the stories and characters fresh, exciting and relevant year after year,” Salke adds.

With 12,000 episodes under its belt (and counting), “Days of Our Lives” will turn 48 next year.
