Ubisoft and Sony have announced that day-one copies of the upcoming Assassin's Creed: Revelations on the PlayStation 3 will include the original Assassin's Creed game free of charge.
Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed franchise has become extremely important in recent years, as after a shaky start, it's now one of the most profitable series from the French company, especially since the company is bent on pushing out a new iteration each year, using quite a few of its worldwide studios, organized under the leadership of the original creator of the series, Ubisoft Montreal.
After holding a
multiplayer beta stage for the upcoming
Revelations title in the franchise exclusively on the PlayStation 3, Ubisoft has now revealed that a new partnership between it and Sony has been formed.
As a result, the first copies of Assassin's Creed: Revelations for the PlayStation 3 will include free copies of the original Assassin's Creed title.
"Today Ubisoft announced a special partnership with Sony Computer Entertainment offering the first PlayStation3 players of Assassin's Creed Revelations an opportunity to relive the beginnings of the epic Assassin's Creed saga."
Revelations sees the protagonist from the last two titles, Ezio Auditore, explore the footsteps of his predecessor and Assassin's Creed 1 hero Altair, so the opportunity to play the original game once more, for free, is quite impressive.
"Whether being introduced to the award-winning original Assassin's Creed for the first time or going back to relive the start of the epic journey, players will be drawn into the secret war between Templars and Assassins in ancient Jerusalem," Ubisoft added.
No word yet on if the copy of Assassin's Creed will be included on the Blu-ray disc or if it's just going to be a code on a voucher that can be redeemed on the online PlayStation Store by owners of the Sony home console.
Also, neither Ubisoft nor Sony have confirmed just how many day-one copies will include this special offer.
