Romania leads 1-0 in their Davis Cup play-off against South Korea. Still, the East-European squad cannot enjoy its success properly, since the team veteran and best positioned player inside the ATP race, Andrei Pavel is likely to miss his 2nd match due to a shoulder injury.

Pavel entered the game determined to spend as less time as possible against W. Jun. And the Korean had no response to Pavel's great game. The Romanian rallied through the first set and clinched it with an impressive 6-0.
The South-Korean did not manage to handle the pressure and tried to better his game throughout the second.

And he did succeed in giving Pavel a harder time the second set. The Romanian only broke his opponent once in the set and easily put another one on the scoreboard. The 3rd set was a pretty dramatic one, despite Pavel also winning it 6-3. The Korean started to put more pressure on Andrei and almost broke the crowd's favorite in the 5th.

Pavel's experience did not let him down, though, and he recovered in style, breaking his opponent the very next game. He went on to finish the match with a convincing 6-0, 6-4, 6-3 performance, but got injured along the way. Midway through the 3rd, the Romanian had some problems on his shoulder and received medical care soon after the match was over.

"I don't really know what happened. The doctors are still to give me a verdict. All I know is that I felt some pain in my right shoulder and now I have it covered in ice. I'll probably find out tonight if I can play tomorrow or the day after", said Pavel.
Facing the possibility of not being able to play for Romania this weekend, Pavel assured the fans that his colleagues will be able to win for him: "I trust my fellow colleagues. If I am not be able to play tomorrow, Florin Mergea will take my place. I think we're going to win this, with or without me".

Victor Crivoi is now playing H-T. Lee in the second match of the day. Romania leads 1-0.
