Pachter was apparently joking when he revealed it last week

David Jaffe revealed through his Twitter account that analyst Michael Pachter's statement about him making a new Twisted Metal game was false. “Amused & surprised people not seeing Pachter’s comment as the joke it was. [expletive] I don’t care. Come E3 I’ll be sitting right here at my Mac,” was what Jaffe wrote on the very popular micro-blogging platform.

Last week, in a GameTrailer show, Pachter revealed the existence of a new Twisted Metal game. “So, I think… Sony really does have good first-party content, none-Move first-party content like David Jaffe’s Twisted Metal 2 Game.” He continued to comment that it had not been announced and that he was not sure what the title of that new installment was.

Jaffe has had a long history of being ambiguous about the game his studio, Eat, Sleep, Play, is working on. While many have believed and still do believe that this is a reboot of the popular PlayStation-exclusive car combat title, Jaffe stated many times before that he had no such project in development.

He has also recently said that he will not be taking part in 2010's E3 and that his new game, whichever that is, will not be present at Sony's booth. This comes after a recent leaked photo of various companies’ line-ups for this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo that listed Twisted Metal: Harbor City as part of Sony's confirmed titles to be presented in the event.

The concept of the Twisted Metal franchise is that of a vehicular-combat game that allows players to outfit their cars with various projectile-firing weapons, mines or even nuclear missiles. Afterwards, they must enter the car in a demolition derby-like arena, where the last driver alive is the winner. The story in all of the games revolves around a tournament called Twisted Metal, whose winner is granted any single wish they want. One of the marks of the series is its black humor, for no wish is ever fulfilled as it was intended, but it is reinterpreted by the tournament's host and ends having a fatal effect on the victorious contestant.
