Former “Baywatch” star David Hasselhoff has just recently announced that he won’t be coming back for a new season of the popular show America’s Got Talent. While the star insists his departure is due to his getting his own reality show, on which he plans on focusing all his attention, reports suggest that his drinking problem getting out of hand might have played a part in the move, HipHopRX informs.

The show, aired by NBC during the summer, was an amazing experience for The Hoff, he says in a press statement released the other day, but the time has come for him to move on. Since he’s now working on his own reality show, details of which should be announced very soon, he can’t possibly continue to be a judge on AGT. However, inside sources claim there might be more behind the imminent departure than The Hoff is saying.

“Actor / singer David Hasselhoff is stated to have allegedly been booted from TV talent show competition America’s Got Talent because of drinking, but it may also be that he will no longer be with the show simply because his contract wasn’t renewed for the 5th season. But it had to have not been renewed for a reason, right?” the aforementioned publication writes.

While David’s statement that the departure is for practical reasons, that is, his wanting to focus more on his upcoming reality show, seems to hold water, so do the claims that it was prompted by his alcohol addiction. As we also reported a while back, his former wife, Pamela Bach, pleaded with his fans to somehow stage an intervention and prove to him that he had a problem, and thus save his life. This came on the heels of yet another emergency hospitalization for the actor, presumably on account of alcohol abuse.

“The despair, feeling hopeless and unable to believe that things can ever change with David’s alcoholism over the years has affected our whole family. We want our lives to be different, but nothing we have done has brought about change. We ask David’s fans, supporters and handlers to take swift action to save this wonderful man’s life. I have always been close to my daughters to comfort and support them as well always being there for David. We will be forever hurt from this cruel disease. I am grateful for our two daughters who have been incredibly brave, strong and protective souls,” Bach was saying in December ’09.
