There’s no doubt that David Duchovny is doing wonderfully in television with his critically acclaimed Showtime series “Californication,” but the actor would definitely not say no to an offer for another “X Files” movie.

In what can’t but come as wonderful news for fans, in a recent interview with Digital Spy (via ONTD), the actor said that he’d love to get back with the old gang from the groundbreaking television series and perhaps make a third film.

As he sees it, there’s still lots more potential to the series than what was explored in the first two films and, with the due amount of money invested in it, David knows it could turn out to be a blockbuster.

But alas, there are many variables to this right now, even if everybody involved would love to get back in the saddle again.

“I’m always game. It always rides on Fox. [Chris Carter] is game. I know [Gillian Anderson] is game. We all, at this point, love the show,” Duchovny says in the aforementioned interview.

“We all, at this point, would love to work with one another again. We’re all good friends and miss one another, and miss working together,” he adds.

“We worked together so hard for so long, so closely. We had some ups and downs personally, sure. But in the end, they are really like family to me. We’re all like this little X-Files family and I, for one, would love to continue,” David says.

Fans too will probably love it. “And I think there’s a lot left in the show. You know? And I think we can continue to make good movies,” he adds.

In the same interview, David admits the second film did not fare as they hoped it would but that happened mostly because it did not have what it took to be a strong summer contender. But that’s not to say it couldn’t happen with a third film.

Besides “X Files,” David also admits he has a thing for all the “Twilight” characters, saying they would all come second (after Woody Allen) in a list of men he’d “go gay” for.

“Oh and anyone in the Twilight movies. I don’t know any of their names, but all of them. The wolves, the vampires? They’re all fantastic,” the actor jokes.
