David Coulthard Sees Women Ready for Formula One

David Coulthard, currently driving for Red Bull, said that he sees no reason why women shouldn't try to compete in Formula One. He thinks that women are just as good drivers as men are, and it would be just the right time to start competing in the greatest rallying competition in the world.

"I don't see why they shouldn't compete in Formula One. There is no reason whatsoever
to keep them out. Not a physical one and certainly not a reaction one. My sister for example, is a much more talented driver than me," said the ex-McLaren driver.

A woman competing in F1 is not a new thing. Until now, only 5 women have tried to resist in the tough world of Formula One. The last of them was Italian Giovanna Amati, running for the Brabham team in 1992, who didn't manage to score a point in the standings. The only woman to succeed in making the scoreboard was another Italian, Lella Lombardi, who managed a 6th place in the Spanish GP in 1975.

Jenson Button also agreed with the Scottish driver, on one condition only: "If they want to compete in F1, they'll have to start racing at a young age. Otherwise, they won't stand a chance". The only woman that has a real chance of entering F1 is Sarah Kavanagh. She repeatedly said that Formula One is not a sexist organization, and that she will start competing when she'll feel ready.
