David Bowie is set to star in a new movie directed by Christopher Nolan (Batman Begins).
The famous rocker teams up with Michael Caine, Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale for
THE PRESTIGE, a production that follows the story of two competing magicians, adapted from Christopher Priest's novel.
The 58-years-old singer portrays inventor Nikola Tesla, a character based on the real-life scientist from Serbia who discovered the rotating magnetic field.
Tesla is asked by one of the magicians to help him pull off the ultimate trick.
Michael Caine plays a veteran magician.
Filming on The Prestige will begin in January.
David Bowie has previously starred in films like The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976), Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence (1983), Basquiat (1996), and, most recently, Mr Rice's Secret (2000).
The rocker befriended Nolan when writing the tune Something In The Air for the close of the director's breakthrough film, Memento.
Bowie is also set to provide a voice for Leon director Luc Besson's forthcoming animated film Arthur and the Minimoys.
