Ricky Gervais has admitted he is in talks with both David Bowie and Coldpay's Chris Martin for two parts in his hilarious show "Extras".
Bowie is said to have befriended Gervais while they filmed a sketch together for charity show Comic Relief, earlier this year.
Ricky hopes the legendary singer will agree to star in 'Extras' and has also approached Chris Martin - who is married to Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow - when they met at this summer's Live 8 concert in London.
Bowie and Martin might be the next stars to play distorted versions of themselves in the show, like Kate Winslet, Ben Stiller and Samuel L Jackson previously did.
"Extras", which has been nominated for a record five British Comedy Awards, follows film extra Andy (Gervais) on his desperate quest to get a speaking part in a movie.
Apparently, the British funnyman has approached a number of big-names for the second run of the BBC Two comedy. Gervais said that 'as far as Brad Pitt, David Bowie and Madonna are concerned, they are fans but the only one we have signed up is Tom Cruise so far".
When asked why so many Hollywood stars were prepared to go through the Extras experience, Ricky replied:"I don't know, maybe they're masochists".
