14 DAY TRIAL // Terrible news for fans of the Fox hit series “Bones,” with David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel as leads. Sources close to the production tell Radar Online that David has decided he won’t be back after season 9 wraps.
“David is telling friends that it's his last season,” one such insider tells the publication.
This isn’t a negotiation tactic but a decision David has been thinking of making since June 2012, when he agreed to come back for one more season, but refused to commit to more.
The time has come for him to get involved in other projects, he believes, as per the report. His co-star, on the other hand, is willing to remain on board even if that would mean re-casting the second lead.
Whether that’s actually going to happen is a wild guess at this point, because such a move could possibly alienate many fans of the show.
“The show makes a lot of money, but re-casting a lead is always a challenge. The network could throw in the towel if David can’t be signed for more seasons after this one,” the insider explains.
Meanwhile, until official word on this comes out (and it’s bound to, especially if the report is even remotely accurate), fans can look forward to the wedding episode on October 21. Season 9 wraps in May 2014.
