Good news for those who still watch 'Desperate Housewives' and for all the girls out there who dreamed of Beckham making his way into the world of television: David will team with his British fellow Robbie Williams for a contract on a groundbreaking show. Last week, the creator of the show, Marc Cherry, revealed that the upcoming season of the ABC show will feature new characters, among which also a gay couple.
As of yesterday, rumor had it that the two men the producers had in mind for the parts were none others than Mr. Golden Balls himself, David Beckham, and his new American best friend, Tom Cruise. Sources from the inside claim that Tom Cruise was not even approached for the part, mainly because his sensibility when the topic of his sexuality is raised is well known. But the producers really wanted a big name to star opposite David and, instead of Tom, they came up with the idea of bringing Robbie on board.
'David and Robbie are perfect to star as the new neighbors' best friends; the gorgeous, eccentric couple flown over from Blighty.', one spy told the media today. And, aside from their handsomeness, there were also other attributes that came into play, like, the fact that they're both British. Therefore, there must be a lot of chemistry between them when paired (pun not intended, this time) in front of the camera. 'They're both funny, game for a laugh and ridiculously macho, so it should work wonderfully. The English are pitch-perfect for sending themselves up.', the same insider added.
Seeing that the most recent seasons of 'Desperate Housewives' performed disappointingly in comparison with the first one, it's only natural for the producers to attempt to bring some controversy and well known faces in the vicinity of the four desperate vixens. Like the insider said: 'We haven't had that kind of wow for the wives since Jesse Metcalfe left and we want it to cause such a stir when they turn out to be together.' Whether both Brits will actually accept it is still to be seen but, apparently, David has already said OK to the offer, although no documents have been signed yet.
Stay tuned here for confirmation on this one. And, ladies, if everything works out just fine, prepare yourselves for some serious eye-candy. The gents can just skip on that one, it's okay (and wait for Posh Victoria to make a starring role).
