Armani is coming to the States! Yes, the famous European designer will launch his Emporio Armani underwear collection in February next year. Not only will Armani be taking American crotches by storm, he also managed to chose a veritable stud to be the, ahem, face of the whole campaign. So, people, we'll be able to have a closer look at David Beckham's Armani-clad crown jewels and all starting early next year - and just for fun, here is a sneak preview to give you a taste of what to expect.
The underwear designed by the fashion legend is set to hit Emporio stores in December with a soft launch. Then in January, Macy's and Bloomingdales will carry the goods online. February will mark the official launch, which will bring the line into the stores themselves. David Beckham has already shot the ad campaign in Los Angeles at the end of last week with Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. The ads will start appearing in fashion magazines worldwide starting with their January issues.

Beckham and Armani have worked together on other occasions (Armani did the English team's wardrobe in 2002) and apparently are best pals. The fact is, this whole story (besides making me mildly curious about seeing yet another display of David's crotch dressed in designer undies) made me wonder again how come David is constantly treated like royalty for being a football legend when, in fact, the number of ad campaigns which feature him is probably bigger than the number of matches he played in this season. Yes, celebrity is crazy like that.
But in the end, it's just fame, right? It doesn't last, and it comes with a whole package of troubles. Like people calling you too old to play football and deeming you and your wife "the world's most over-rated couple". And again, I can't help wondering what his mates at the L.A.Galaxy make of all this naked posing and getting in touch with his feminine side. Do they envy him, treat him as a joke, respect him? Well, I'll reserve judgment until after I see the actual photos. And then we'll talk some more.
