David Beckham Named Hottest Hunk on the Planet

While this kind of lists usually emerge at the end of the year, January is just as good a month as December. Heat magazine has just unveiled its 101 Hottest Hunks of the Planet inaugural list.

AceShowbiz has all the details: it appears that David Beckham continues to reign supreme with the ladies, since he's just been crowned the hottest man alive on the face of the planet.

Ryan Gosling who, fans believe, was robbed of the distinction of the year's hottest by People magazine in late 2011, comes up second, followed closely by another Ryan – Reynolds, of course.

Bradley Cooper and Jake Gyllenhaal also have the right combination of looks, smarts and talent, rounding up the top 5 on the fourth and fifth positions respectively.

“Our readers and panel of experts clearly have impeccable taste as there is genuinely no-one more deserving of the title 'Sexiest Man on the Planet 2012' than David Beckham,” Heat editor Lucie Cave says, as cited by the aforementioned publication.

He is the ideal man, if you will, possessing a rare combination of appeal, smarts, money, good looks, talent and charisma.

“Women adore him, men want to be him, and we're absolutely thrilled that he has topped our poll,” Cave adds.

The poll should offer a clear view of women's preferences, since both editors and readers contribute to it.

“The top 25 list was compiled from the votes of over 1,000 readers and of an expert panel, while the rest are based upon the reader votes alone,” AceShowbiz informs.

“The panel itself was comprised of Premier Models' Carole White, celebrity photographer Nicky Johnston and Heat style editor Jo Hoare, who judged each hunk on their talent, appeal, dress sense and personality,” adds the same celebrity publication.

The rest of the list is as follows: Robert Pattinson, Tom Hardy, Johnny Depp, Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron round up the top 10.

The other 25 hunks include, among others, Gerard Butler, Adam Levine, George Clooney, Michael Fassbender, Justin Timberlake and Brad Pitt.
