Shortly after his marriage to Courteney Cox ended, David Arquette went on a drinking and hard-partying spree that eventually landed him in rehab. He completed a program for “alcohol and other issues” and emerged a sober man – but he’s recently ditched sobriety once more.

Speaking with Howard Stern the other day, the actor admitted that he’d fallen off the wagon, but made sure to stress that it wasn’t such a big deal.

A segment from the interview is available below, embedded at the end of the article.

Yes, he drinks a lot but it’s not really that bad as people might think, he says. Plus, he’s getting help by seeing a therapist so it’s not like he’s walking down the road to perdition or anything.

“I’m drinking again… I’m a drinker, I drink a lot,” Arquette admits.

Pressed for details, he reveals that he also “smoke[s] a little weed” every now and then.

However, David’s biggest problem as he sees it isn’t that he’s relapsed, but rather that he’s afraid to be “honest” because he knows people will judge him.

“The problem is people are going to take this and start talking about it,” he confesses, stressing that this is why he didn’t want to talk about this in the first place.

He has a problem and he knows about it, but that doesn’t mean that he’s completely out of control, he goes on to say.

Besides seeing a therapist, Davis also has the support of his girlfriend and his ex-wife.

“Courteney’s super cool,” he says of his ex. “Everybody’s getting along and understanding. We’re being kind and loving to each other.”

It’s unclear why, if he’s so afraid of being judged for drinking again after 2 years of sobriety, he went on the show to talk about it, voices online are pointing out. Nonetheless, he gets some points for being honest.
