THQ and Vigil Games have confirmed that Darksiders 2 has two new features, in the form of a New Game+ mode, which allows players to once again go through the single-player campaign with all the upgrades from the previous playthrough, as well as a wave-based arena mode called The Crucible.

Darksiders II is set to deliver an intense single-player hack and slash experience next week, when it appears on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

Until then, publisher THQ and developer Vigil Games have been hyping it up with all sorts of videos, screenshots, and details.

Now, two new features have been unveiled for the game, in the form of a New Game+ mode and an arena experience called The Crucible.

New Game+, like in other titles, allows players at the end of a playthrough to restart the campaign with all their upgrades and weapons intact.

Meanwhile, The Crucible arena mode challenges players to withstand hordes of enemies, with rewards dropping every five waves and the biggest loot appearing after wave 100.

Darksiders 2 is out on August 14, in North America, and August 21, in Europe and the rest of the world.
