Retailer GameStop has posted a set of minimum system requirements for the upcoming Prepare to Die Edition of Dark Souls, which lists a microphone as being required for the multiplayer part of the game.

The same set of system requirements are also posted on the Steam page for the video game.

The developer of the game, From Software, has a history of actively discouraging players from having planned and scripted interactions with their friends, even going so far as to not include voice chat support for Dark Souls and for its spiritual prequel, Demon’s Souls.

One of the additions for the PC-based Prepare to Die Edition of the game was improved matchmaking, which means that gamers will be probably able to just use the microphone in order to set up matches and then banned from using them during actual gameplay sequences.

Dark Souls has managed to impress players with the difficulty level on home consoles and after a petition, Namco Bandai announced that it would port it to the PC.
