Since From Software announced that Dark Souls would be trading Games for Windows Live for Steamworks, people playing the game have been affected by all kinds of issues.

One of the issues was related to the fact that players who transferred their accounts to Steamworks have been locked to just one region. This particular issue has been reported numerous times by lots of Dark Souls players, but developers have been mum on the problem.

Well, it looks like a small update has been pushed to Steam, which apparently solves this region lock issue. This has only been confirmed by Dark Souls players, as From Software has yet to release any statements regarding the latest update for their game.

You will need to download the latest version of DSFix

Dark Souls player should take into consideration the fact that the 5.5MB patch might break their game. For example, the FPS unlocking feature included in the DSFix 2.3 add-on will be disabled, but a fix is already available.

The latest DSFix 2.4 promises to fix the issue and allows players to increase Dark Souls game's FPS cap to 60 once again. Another tool that the patch might disable after the update is called PvP Watchdog.

If you have this tool installed on your PC, then the latest patch for Dark Souls will probably break it, so you will need to download the newest version of PvP Watchdogs tool.

According to many Dark Souls players who received the update and downloaded the latest versions of these tools, the region lock has been finally removed.

Some of them report being invaded by other continents then those they're currently living in (North America, Europe), which confirms once again that the Dark Souls patch removes region lock.
