Dark Souls 2: The Lost Crowns DLC trilogy was revealed earlier this month, and developer From Software graciously provided a first glimpse of the upcoming content last night, at the E3 convention taking place in Los Angeles.

The trilogy will debut next month, and all the action will take place in a new part of the Souls universe. The first episode to drop is Crown of the Sunken King, which will become available starting July 22, for the Xbox 360 and PC, and starting Jul 23 for the PlayStation 3 platform.

The two following episodes are Crown of the Old Iron King, scheduled to come out on August 26 for the PC and Xbox platforms, and then on August 27 for the PlayStation 3, and Crown of the Ivory King, which will drop on September 23 for the Xbox 360 and PC, and one day later, on September 27, for the PlayStation 3.

The newest video is an interview with Dark Souls producer Atsuo Yoshimura, showing actual gameplay footage from the upcoming DLC and discussing some of the additions.

He confirms the speculations that the upcoming DLC season would contain new enemies and items, and shows off a new area from Crown of the Sunken King, The Poisoned Winds.

He suggests that the area itself has to be tamed, with players having to solve some puzzles and environmental challenges.

The upcoming DLC trilogy includes a ton of challenge routes specifically designed for seasoned players, that will be much harder and pose a greater threat than anything that Dark Souls 2 threw at gamers.

Yoshimura predicts that, although some of the more experienced players will no doubt be able to solo all the areas, most of the player base will have to seek the help of others in order to succeed, summoning them in the challenge route in order to conquer it in co-op.

The producer also hints at the fact that there will be some surprises waiting for those who manage to complete all three DLC packs.

He has ended the conversation by stating that the company has no plans to deliver Dark Souls 2 to either the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One, because there simply isn't enough time for it.

The famed Japanese developer also announced their next project last night, in the form of PlayStation 4 exclusive title Bloodborne. The project is being directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, who was also in charge of Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1.
