Dark Souls 2 has just been released on PC yesterday, and now the question everyone is asking is whether it looks considerably better than the versions running on the 8-year-old hardware of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The guys at Digital Foundry have done it once again coming up with side-by-side comparisons between the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC versions of From Software’s action role playing game, along with a rather detailed analysis for those interested in the finer details.

A number of issues have been reported by owners of the PC version, marring Dark Souls 2’s launch, from lock-ups to controller problems and other such glitches. Publisher Bandai Namco has put together a list of temporary solutions for Dark Souls 2’s problems until they can figure things out.

Additionally, the famed creator of the Dark Souls PC mod that greatly enhanced the visual level of the game, known to the Internet as Durante, has already gotten his hands dirty, coming up with a Dark Souls 2 graphics mod that uses downsampling to increase the game’s fidelity.

If you want to see for yourself how the PC port fares when compared to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, check out the videos below. The differences are pretty obvious, especially when it comes to texture quality, making the PC port the definitive edition of Dark Souls 2.
