Grand Prix champ Dario Franchitti has recovered from the first surgery on his ankle and he is getting ready for a second one.
The driver fractured his right ankle during Sunday's Houston race crash. He was passing Takuma Sato on a fast portion of the course during the last turn in the race. He lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a catchfence.
According to USA Today, he will be transferred to an Indianapolis hospital within the next few days for a second surgical intervention.
"I would also like to send my best to all the fans involved in the accident and hope that everyone is alright," Franchitti has stated, according to a release relayed by Target Chip Ganassi Racing.
Two bystanders needed hospitalization after being struck by flying debris during the crash. Franchitti has also incurred two broken vertebrae and a concussion.
