It will arrive first on the PS3, then on the Xbox, and never on the PSP

With the recent killing spree started by Electronic Arts with its over 1,500 employees and at least one studio shut down, Pandemic, the publisher, continued its policy of “whatever it took” that we saw with the promoting of Dante's Inferno. The game has seen some devious publicity, and pretty much blasphemous at every turn. At the 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo, the publisher organized, without properly revealing this of course, a fake protest held by religious fanatics that pretended to attack the game and its concept.

In November, EA made a just-as-fake commercial for a fictional game, Mass: We Pray, in which the act of praying was transformed into a motion-sensing-based title, with a cross-shape controller. Funny as it might seem, and it was funny, make no mistake about it, EA did indeed manage to stir a lot of controversy, but even more of the attention that it needed. Now, with the Christmas coming up, the company feels that a little bit of redemption is in order, so it has decided that, maybe, it's time for some good old-fashion, less soul-damning-to-hell promotion.

The game received a demo and an official date for it, but it won't have a proper coverage on the market. The PlayStation 3 will get the demo on December 10, while the Xbox 360 will receive it on December 24, just a day before Christmas, so we can get into the proper holiday spirit by “going to hell.” While the title will also get a full release on the PlayStation Portable, a demo for the handheld won't be made available at all.

The Dante's Inferno Gates of Hell demo will give players free access to its first level, as Dante Alighieri begins his journey in EA's interactive take on the Divine Comedy. He will venture forth towards the very bowels of Hell, in search for his beloved Beatrice. The game will allow players to go through the Nine Circles of Hell, Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Anger, Heresy, Violence, Fraud and Treachery and, in the end, battle Lucifer himself for the soul of his loved one. The game will arrive in North America on February 9, on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PSP.
