Famed director Robert Rodriguez is currently ironing out details for a reboot of the 1987 classic “Predator” film, which he will both write and direct. As of now, not many details on the production have yet been made available, save for rumors that Arnold Schwarzenegger might be convinced to do a cameo. Danny Trejo, an old Rodriguez collaborator, has just confirmed he has been cast for a part in “Predators” in an interview with Punch Drunk Critics.

Trejo has just wrapped production on “Machete,” the feature film based on the faux trailer that ran with “Grindhouse” and that Rodriguez thought of making after an impressive demand from the fan community. Speaking with Punch Drunk Critics, the actor has also confirmed rumors of “Sin City 2,” saying that he has been approached for a part, but that his management is still negotiating with the movie studio. Last but not least, Trejo also confirms doing “Predators.”

“It’s kind of in the works. We’re going to do Predators next. So Sin City’s kind of… er… a thought process… We’ll be doing Predator[s] I think in about a month.” Trejo says. As SlashFilm also notes, it’s worth mentioning that Danny Trejo doesn’t really say that he’ll be the lead in the upcoming “Predators,” just that he’ll be involved in one capacity or another. Also, judging from past “Predator” films, fans already know that it’s not the humans who are the real stars in them, but rather the deadly Predators.

As far as the reboot is concerned, not too much is known at this point in time. “For Fox, Rodriguez has scripted ‘Predators,’ a film that will bring back the dreadlock-sporting alien hunter who originated in the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger hit ‘Predator.’ While a sequel didn’t become a hit, Fox kept the alien sharp by launching the ‘Alien Vs. Predator,’ a wildly profitable series that has racked up strong grosses and DVD sales, with little or no gross out the door.” Variety was saying of “Predators” a while back.

If Trejo is right and the reboot goes into production next month, more details on it are bound to surface very soon. In the meanwhile, check out the star dish out on “Machete,” “Sin City 2” and “Predators” in the video below.
