The season comedy 'Deck the Halls' is fourth at the North American box-office and one of the main stars that appear in it thought that talking about it while on Barbara Walters-produced 'The View' would help boost its ticket sales.
However, Danny went out partying all night with friend George Clooney right before the taping of the popular show and, unfortunately for him, didn't make it to his house until it began at 10 in the morning. So, visibly intoxicated, he came nevertheless and, instead of talking about his movie, started ranting about politics.
'I knew it was the last seven limoncellos that was going to get to me', the small-sized actor said after he explained that he got no sleep at all that night. Then, he embarked on an expletive-laden rant against President Bush, much of it was eventually bleeped out by the network's censors.
Barbara Walter was obviously annoyed with the way the discussion was going and tried repeatedly to make DeVito talk about that which had brought him there, that is, his movie. But nothing could stop him in his tracks, as he began bragging about having sex with his wife Rhea Pearlman in the Lincoln Bedroom in the White House, while on a short visit.
Danny said he and his wife did all they could to 'really wreck the joint', but all efforts were in vain. More and more outraged with every obviously painful and embarrassing minute that was passing, Walter finally managed to silence the 'hammered' actor and then to make him talk about 'Deck the Halls'.
When TMZ contacted DeVito's publicist, he said that he cannot comment on the state of his client while on 'The View', adding that a call has already been placed to Walters to explain 'what needed to be said privately'.
