14 DAY TRIAL // Singer and X Factor judge Dannii Minogue has just become a first-time mom after giving birth to a healthy baby boy she and model boyfriend Kris Smith named Ethan. Though both mother and child are now doing well and are out of harm’s way, some complications did arise and the star had to be rushed to the hospital, the Daily Mail informs.
Dannii, it would seem, was set on giving birth at home and had everything prepared to welcome Ethan into the world in her own home and not at the hospital. However, hours before giving birth, things got a bit complicated and she had to be taken to Melbourne’s Royal Women’s Hospital. Her boyfriend, Kris Smith, of whom Dannii has often said she felt he was “the one,” was by her side at all times, the same report further says.
“Dannii Minogue was dramatically rushed to hospital after she suffered complications during the home birth of her son. The 38-year-old singer was forced to abandon the home birth on medical advice, and taken to a public hospital where she was admitted under a false name to keep her presence a secret. Despite the emergency, the X Factor star gave birth to her first child, Ethan Edward Smith, on Monday afternoon at Melbourne’s Royal Women’s Hospital, with her model boyfriend Kris Smith, 32, by her side,” writes the Mail.
The happy news that all had gone well was confirmed by Dannii’s spokesperson Simon Jones. “Kris Smith and Dannii Minogue are thrilled to announce the arrival of Ethan Edward Smith on July 5. Mother and baby are doing well and Dad is very proud. They request their privacy at this special time to adjust as new parents,” a statement to the Mail reads. The happy daddy also took to Twitter to share the news, saying, “On behalf of the 3 of us I would like to thank you all for your kind words and best wishes. It means a lot to us. X.”
Kris is not the only one to go the Twitter way to talk about the baby: Dannii’s sister, Kylie Minogue, also tweeted her congratulations. Other celebrities who’ve worked with Dannii or are friends with her also chose the same means of communication to send their best wishes.
