Being the guy who plays Harry Potter for seven movies straight can have a serious backfire on Daniel Radcliffe's career. No matter how hard he tries, the first thing that people think when they look at the 17-year-old Daniel is the young wizard from J.K. Rowling "Harry Potter" series. Nevertheless, Daniel keeps on trying.
One thing is for sure. Although he still has to star in two more "Harry Potter" movies, Daniel is trying to ditch the boy wizard image fast. He certainly made this clear when he agreed to appear in the play "Equus". The catch is that he had to act in his birthday suit… Harry Potter naked, now there is something that doesn't come to mind everyday (that is, if we exclude the legion of female fans).
As you can imagine, this did not go well with some people in the audience. So it happened that during one representation, while Daniel was doing his (naked) thing, one spectator threw a stuffed owl on stage. You can imagine Daniel's embarrassment, considering the fact that J.K. Rowling was in the audience.
That did not put Daniel off and he decided to pose for the Details magazine. The basic idea behind this particular photo session was to change Daniel's boy wizard image to that of a teenage masculine hunk. Well, one thing is for sure, they definitely changed his image, in such a way that you can barely recognize him. But when you realize who you're looking at, you're still thinking: "whoa, check out Harry with the manly beard and without the glasses!" But that's just my point of view.
Anyway, I for one am really glad to see that Daniel does not settle with being just "the actor that played Harry Potter". His determination is truly admirable and he is making some progress.
Perhaps nobody can better illustrate the measure of that progress than Daniel's co-star Emma Watson. While at the Los Angeles premiere of "Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix", Emma was shown Daniel's pictures from the upcoming Details magazine. Her reaction is simply priceless.
