Since the “Harry Potter” franchise ended, Daniel Radcliffe has been working hard to prove to the entire world that he’s more than a one-trick pony, the boy who played the wizard boy. He is convinced he can put his Harry Potter image behind him, he says in a new interview.

This November, Radcliffe will be in theaters again, with the Allen Ginsberg biopic “Kill Your Darlings,” a trailer for which is also embedded below, at the end of this article.

Speaking with the New York Times about the film, Daniel says he’s still fighting against people’s preconceptions that there’s nothing more to his acting than what we saw in the best-selling film franchise.

“I have a massive chip on my shoulder. When you fall into something at age 11 and get paid incredible amounts of money for your entire teenage years for doing a job anyone would want, there is a part of you that thinks everybody is just saying, ‘He got there because he fell into it; he's not really an actor’,” Daniel says.

He also talks about his first major post-Harry Potter movie, “The Woman in Black,” which was well received by critics, and recalls how hard he tried to not “make a face that would make people think of Harry.”

“It's just my face. I have to accept the fact that my face is going to remind people of Harry because I played that character. If I try to avoid being expressive in that same way, all I'll do is stop being expressive, and I won't be any farther away from that character,” he says.

Even though for some Daniel will always be the Harry Potter actor no matter what he does, most critics agree that he’s a young actor with incredible potential and talent, as he’s showed time and time again.

“Kill Your Darlings,” judging from the initial reactions, will only consolidate his reputation as a very promising young thespian.
