“I’m really keen to get going,” Daniel Craig says of 23rd “James Bond” film
“I’m really keen to get going,” Daniel Craig says of 23rd “James Bond” film

In April this year, MGM’s money problems got the best of it and the first victim with the movie studio was the “James Bond” franchise. Daniel Craig wants the big bosses to get their act together and work to bring it back.

As we also informed you at the time, the 23rd James Bond film was “postponed indefinitely,” after being in production limbo for what seemed like an eternity.

Further details have not come out since then, except that money problems did this to the suave 007 agent – but, whatever it is that’s behind the holdup, Daniel Craig wants it solved.

In a recent interview cited by ShowbizSpy, the British actor explains why he doesn’t like talking about the possibility of doing another James Bond film – and stresses he would very much like the chance to finish the story he began telling.

“Unless MGM can sort themselves out, we can’t make a movie. It’s hard to talk about things that aren’t happening,” the actor says about a certain reluctance he has to speak of the film that may never happen.

Still, as they say, the last one to go out is hope. And Daniel Craig has plenty of that.

“There will be more to say when things are happening. I’m really keen to get going, it’s as simple as that. And I’m hoping that, in a while, we will,” he explains.

What pains him the most is the fact that, if “James Bond” ends here, he will never again have the chance to complete the journey he started with “Casino Royale.”

“I felt as if we were just getting going and that we’d get the chance to make a couple more,” Craig says.

“I’d like fulfill the circle with the story. But, yes, there is nothing really to say until whoever gets that house [at MGM] in order. There’s no chance of getting it made until those things are taken care of,” he adds.

In August this year, Entertainment Weekly did an analysis on what “indefinite delay” could mean for a film franchise, even one as big and as insanely successful as “James Bond.”

In very few words, things are not looking good – so fans may as well hope, together with Daniel Craig, that MGM sort themselves out in due time.
