They hardly ever admitted being an item in the first place, so it’s probably no wonder Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz also chose to keep their wedding a secret. The two tied the knot this past Wednesday, it has emerged.

In November last year, Rachel split from her partner of 9 years, director Darren Aronofsky, and her name was immediately linked in the press to that of good friend and co-star Daniel Craig.

Initially, they denied being a couple but, as the months passed and they were photographed together, they no longer denied the romance.

The News of the World has now learned that Daniel and Rachel are now husband and wife, the Daily Mail reports. Official confirmation is still pending.

“Apparently, the pair got married on the quiet in New York State in front of just four people last Wednesday,” the British tab writes.

“The guests were said to be Daniel’s 18-year-old daughter Ella and Rachel’s son Henry, four, plus two family friends who acted as witnesses,” the Mail adds.

An unnamed source says the two actors wanted to make their relationship official but, at the same time, they wanted to keep it to themselves, which is why they chose a small, intimate ceremony, without the fuss that usually goes with celebrity weddings.

“Daniel and Rachel insisted on having a small, quiet wedding. They are madly in love and couldn’t wait to be husband and wife – but they wanted minimum fuss,” says the insider.

At the time Weisz announced her split from Aronofsky, she was shooting “The Dream House” with Craig, where they play wife and husband.

Craig, in his turn, was in a relationship: he was engaged to Satsuki Mitchell, whom he’d been dating for 5 years.

Rachel and Darren were not married; they share custody of their son and have remained on very good terms after the split.

Chances of confirmation of Daniel and Rachel’s wedding coming from a publicist are slim, given how private they both are.

Nevertheless, they might talk about it themselves – should the above be accurate – in one of the coming interviews to promote their films, so make sure you keep an eye on this space for details.
