After the criticism that surrounded the choosing of a blonder and somehow more effeminate Agent 007 to replace the macho Pierce Brosnan, it seems that the producers made no mistake in their decision. At least, that's what the preview from the Amsterdam Cinema Expo led them to believe.
Viewers were left dumb-folded when they saw that the man who, a while ago, crossed the Thames wearing a safety vest, managed to bring new nuances to a character that has been played by five positively brilliant actors. They were confronted with a grittier agent, whose contours have much more edge and humanity, in a film of a darker and less cartoon-ish tone.
Caterina Munro, the actress who plays Solange, 007's lover in 'Casino Royale', is also quite impressed with this new image of Bond. She says that Craig actually brings an unseen aspect of the character's personality on screen and that all his actions are very well founded and life-rooted. 'When he's going to kill someone, he looks like a real killer', says Munro about Craig's acting skills.
Maybe that should silence the film's critics. If not, there is still to see the rival James Bond film, the one that will most likely star veteran Pierce Brosnan.
