Danica Patrick has decided that there is no saving her and Paul Hospenthal’s marriage of 7 years. The two separated in November last year, and Danica has just filed for divorce, it has emerged.

The popular NASCAR driver announced her and Paul’s decision to end the marriage on her Facebook page, in a post that did its best to explain to fans circumstances that should, by all means, remain private.

In court documents the other day, Danica wrote that their marriage was “irretrievably broken,” the Los Angeles Times reports.

“My marriage is irretrievably broken and there is no reasonable prospect of reconciliation,” she says of the reason cited for divorce.

She also explains that she and Paul have a prenup agreement signed, which means there will be no alimony and no fighting over assets.

“My spouse and I did acquire community property during our marriage, and it will be divided as indicated on a Settlement Agreement which will be submitted to the court at a later date,” Patrick writes in the same filing.

As we also reported at the time, Danica kept it very classy in the divorce announcement, as most celebrities tend to do these days whenever they opt to break the news this way instead of going through a publicist.

“I am sad to inform my fans that after 7 years, Paul and I have decided to amicably end our marriage. This isn't easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life and that's how we will remain moving forward,” Danica said.

She and Paul were married in 2005 and always managed to avoid the spotlight when they wanted. This would explain why not even her fans saw the divorce announcement coming.
