While the majority of today's external storage devices are featured with the traditional USB 2.0 interface, an upcoming wave of new external storage solutions is expected to be featured with the next-generation USB 3.0 interface. On that note, Dane-Elec has announced today the debut of its new line of So Super Speed external USB 3.0 hard drives, now available on the U.S. market. The company's new line includes a Solid State Drive (SSD), which is said to be capable of data transfers of up to 250MB/s, with the Irvine, California-based company claiming that this is the world's first USB 3.0 SSD.

“The eagerly awaited USB 3.0 revolution is finally here, and Dane-Elec is thrilled to be at its forefront,” said Jon Christeson, director of marketing for Dane-Elec U.S. “With transfer speeds of up to ten times faster than USB 2.0 devices, these powerful products will be game changers for consumers and small businesses that regularly work with large files such as video content.”

According to a press statement, the new USB 3.0 line of storage solutions includes several new products, ranging from 500GB in capacity to 2TB, while form factors include both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch designs. These solutions have been designed for both desktop and portable computer systems and are to provide consumers with an option for the latest USB 3.0 interface. In addition, according to Dane-Elec, the So Extreme SuperSpeed SSD product line has been designed on Intel's M-25 80GB or 160GB.

Dane-Elec has also announced that it will be offering USB 3.0-compatible adapters for desktops with compatibility for PCIe slots and laptops with PCIX slots. As far as pricing goes, the 2.5-inch drives range between US$179.99 and US$199.99, while the 3.5-inch SoReady hard drives are available for prices ranging from US$149.99 to US$239.99.
