Dance Summit 2001 Bust a Move is a video game developed by Square Enix and published by Enix in Japan. Created exclusively for the PlayStation 2 console from Sony, it was released in September 2001. The title is classed as a rhythm game played from a third person perspective, similar with the more popular Dance Dance series, although there are some clear differences between them.

The game is based around characters battling out for the Groovetron, which all of them need in order to create a fantasy, like an ultimate painting. All characters are over the top, with each having a dance style and a jammer, which is basically a special move that can be used to damage opponents.

The jammer will be activated once the character you control manages to string together a combo. During the course of the game, you take charge of one of the characters and then compete against the others while trying to become a better dancer, gain proficiency in your special attack, and ultimately attain your goal.

Dance Summit 2001 Bust a Move also makes use of a dance pad, which means that you can only succeed at it if you learn how to match your moves with those the characters perform on the screen.

The game was rather poorly received on launch, while the United States version was criticized because it lacked or changed some of the content of the original game.
