Konami has announced that its well known series Dance Dance Revolution would be launched on the PlayStation 3 home console with a host of new features and with support for the upcoming PlayStation Move motion tracking controller, set to appear in September.

Dance Dance Revolution was a very successful series on the PlayStation 2, the previous generation of home console launched by Sony, mainly because it managed to combine hit songs with a simulation of dancing which took into account feet movement and rhythm.

Now Konami, the publisher, is ready to pot the franchise to the PlayStation 3, making a huge leap in the way dancing is simulated by adding full support for the PlayStation Move, the wand and Eye Toy combo that allows the Sony console to watch the motions performed by the player and translate them into input for the video game.

The addition of Move does not mean that the familiar mat controller for Dance Dance Revolution will disappear, as the two input solutions will be used in tandem to record as much as possible from the dancing moves of the player.

PlayStation Move will also allow player to customize their game screens and will allow them to add effects to their dancing routine.

The results, both the dancing and the added effects, can then be recorded by gamers and then uploaded to popular sites like YouTube and Facebook for other players to see and comment on them.

The PlayStation 3 version of Dance Dance Revolution is set to arrive with 25 tracks that were created specifically for the game by artists at Konami and another 20 popular hits that are licensed from artists. Sony also plans to deliver more tracks via the PlayStation Network.

Konami says that the launch date for the game has not been set in stone but that PlayStation 3 fans should be looking forward to getting the new Dance Dance Revolution in the fall.
