Video games have been in a great relationship with Hollywood movies for quite some time, as they have often provided great stories for movies and movies, in exchange, provide even greater stories, which can be developed into video games by companies in the field.

Such is the case with Atari's Ghostbusters video game, which will appear in summer, marking the 25th anniversary of the first premiere of the movie in the theaters across the world. It will be launched on a variety of platforms, including Nintendo's extremely successful Wii console, which has taken the world by storm.

Dan Aykroyd, one of the original Ghostbusters who partook in the development of the game with his writing and voice acting, has revealed that, out of all of the versions of the title, he prefers the Wii one, because its characters are similar to the superheroes in The Incredibles movie. He also appreciates the fact that the development team has managed to make him much slimmer than he really is.

“Honestly,” Aykroyd says, “I love the way we look in the Wii platform, because it resembles the animation that was done in ‘The Incredibles.’ Anybody who looks like an Incredible is automatically a superhero. And I was so pleased that they shaved off at least 60 pounds from my current bulk. The boys look good. We resemble the actors who were in the first movie. You wouldn't want us out there looking as we do today.”

He has also revealed that the motion capture and voice acting were very hard and long, but, in the end, it was all worth it. Aykroyd has then added that much of the improvisation that made the first movie has been lost in the video game, but there will be a lot of great things to be expected from the acting in it.

“Our effort was in really providing the volume of audio work that's required for a videogame. A screenplay's 120 pages, and a videogame is 600. There are certain stages where you can throw in extra stuff, throw in ideas. If it's been animated, of course, no, there's no room for improvisation. But there were some instances where we were coming up with concepts and slipping them in there. The main thing was to try to restore the quality and the enthusiasm and the passion of our original performances.”

All in all, the Ghostbusters video game is shaping up quite nicely and will surely make a lot of long-time fans anxious to try out the adventures of the famous Ghostbusters in video-game format. Are you excited about this future title? Let us know by leaving a comment.
