The final release of Damn Small Linux 4.3 was announced by Rober Shingledecker. Damn Small Linux is a very small distribution that can boot from a USB stick, business card CD or within a host operating system. It is designed to run even on older computers, such as a 486DX with only 16MB of RAM.

Firefox was updated to the 2.x branch, so you will have a faster and more secure web browser. The murgaLua development platform is now version 0.6.8, that currently integrates LuaTask and comes with a lot of improvements and bugfixes, mostly related to FLTK. The fresh mydslBrowser came to consolidate its older version, transforming it into a more powerful tool.

When you want to relax, you can play the new picture puzzle that was added in the Games collection. In case you feel you're done with the relaxing part, you can calculate your debts - if you have any - with the new calculator.lua which replaces calcoo.

Both JWM and Fluxbox window managers sport new background and theme, and the 'noicons' boot option to suppress icons in JWM was improved.

Here are some more changes, fixes and upgrades available in Damn Small Linux 4.3:

■ Updated nano-tiny to v2.0.7. ■ Optimized minirt24.gz - much smaller. ■ Fixed removal of mydsl extensions on traditional hard drive installations. ■ Dropped SCSI modules for needed space - available in the modules section. ■ Fixed CD recording scanbus device error by adding scsi/sg.o module. ■ Updated editor.lua - menu issue resolved for new murgaLua version. ■ Updated dmix.lua to support multiple sound card channels with 3-way toggle on sync button. ■ Dropped mixer_common.lua - not needed with new dmix.lua program. ■ Updated exit.lua - added support for environment variable BACKUP=0. ■ Removed unsupported 'groups' command and moved to gnu-utils. ■ Corrected permissions on fusermount so normal user can use sshfs. ■ New mydslSqlSearch.lua, a personal tool that some may find of interest. ■ New icons for xpdf and files-exec. ■ Fixed mydsl-wget from using /var/tmp s/b /tmp. ■ Added perl sigtrap.pm.
