14 DAY TRIAL // Dame Helen Mirren may be a Dame and all (and 69 years old to boot!), but she has proven time and time again that she could hang out with the young and “hip” crowd any day. She’d probably out-cool them all, too.
The actress is now in the US to promote her new film, “The Hundred-Foot Journey,” and she also stopped by Live! with Kelly and Michael to talk about it. At one point in the interview, as the video below can confirm, the fact that she can twerk just “happened” to come up.
In January this year, Mirren was the recipient of the Hasty Pudding award from Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals, which was the first time that she admitted to knowing what twerking was and even gave a demonstration of how she too had mastered the art of dropping it like it’s hot.
On the show the other day, she laughed at how embarrassing it would have been for her to have to say that she had no idea what “a twerk” was. That would have made her look like a dinosaur.
At Michael Strahan’s invitation, she showed off her twerking skills once more and, once more, I find myself surprised at how Helen Mirren can make even twerking look like such a fancy, super elegant thing.
