Dakota Fanning will reportedly take on killer Jane in upcoming “New Moon”

Talk of the sequel to the highly successful and well-received vampire flick “Twilight” has just reached critical quotas, with rumors coming in that Dakota Fanning, one of the most hyped young actresses in Hollywood, has also been signed for a part. E! Online reports that the star has been asked to take up a role in “New Moon,” and that negotiations for it are currently underway.

According to the informant, which has it from ever-reliable sources in the movie industry, Dakota has been handpicked by the producers themselves. No casting was necessary, spies are claiming, since she was the one considered perfect for the part of Jane from the very beginning.

“There were no auditions. They just offered it to her outright, and now they’re in negotiations. They’ve been going back and forth.” a source has told the e-zine, claiming to have thorough knowledge of what is going on behind one of the most hyped productions of the moment.

It seems that the 15-year-old Dakota will take on Jane, a sweet-looking but terribly dangerous vampire. Reports have it that she was seen as perfect for the part because of her melodic voice and small stature, which are essential attributes for Jane. Moreover, as of now, several sources are pointing out that having Dakota in “New Moon” is also what fans have been asking ever since confirmation of the sequel was made.

“Jane is a member of Italy’s Volturi, the most deadly group of bloodsucking killers in author Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling series. In the casting notice we got our hands on earlier this month, Jane is described as a petite blonde with a ‘Botticelli angel-like face…[and] crimson irises.’ While fellow Volturi guards Demetri & Felix ‘are three times the size of her, they are terrified of her,’ the casting notice reads.” a post on E! Online says, informing fans of what they’re to expect from Dakota’s appearance in the film.

According to the same source, director Chris Weitz will hopefully start shooting “New Moon” in March, in the US and Italy. If all goes according to schedule and nothing comes up to hold up production, the sequel will hit theaters on November 20. Keep an eye on this space for more details.
