When I learned that Dakota Fanning was doing (had done) a rape

scene, my heart broke. I actually cried. I love Dakota Fanning. She

is an extraordinary actress. She is so adorable and her personality

is tremendously sweet and happy. But now someone decides that

having Dakota Fanning (a child) raped in a scene is Oscar-worthy.

And what's even worse is her own mother agrees. I don't care that

all you see in the scene is Dakota's hand and maybe her bare

shoulder, it is a rape scene involving a wonderful child. Once

again, Hollywood has finally corrupted another wonderful, innocent

Human Being. SHAME on her mother and her Agent for allowing it. You

want Oscar-worthy material from Dakota? Try watching "Man on Fire",

"War Of The Worlds", "Hide and Seek" or ANY film that Dakota

Fanning has been in! This child IS Oscar-Worthy. And she DOESN't

have to have her clothes removed and her very essence violated to

prove it! SHAME ON HER MOTHER FOR ALLOWING THIS HORRIBLE EVENT TO

HAPPEN!

Dakota was NOT raped!! Other than those trivialities, I agree that she IS an Oscar worthy actress now, without bearing the skin! I also agree that actresses should NOT have to be naked to win an award- adult/child/cgi/ or animal. OK, I usually don't post such places, but felt the need to post this time. I have been a fan of Dakota's for quite some time, since I saw the natural talent that lies within her. As for Hounddog, which is the subject, and the specific scene, being the so-called "rape scene", I must tell you, that this scene, in itself, portrays an occurrence that most likely, from my own research, occurred more often than not during the time period this film is set in.

In this film, Dakota is NOT nude. There are no scenes that promote any illegal or immoral activity, but rather bring to focus that these things happen and something must be done to stop it. Movies are a depiction of real life in many cases. This story is just that, a depiction of real life.

Dakota put her heart into this role and regardless of your personal opinions of whether or not the story should contain such material, you should all support her endeavors. She IS an Oscar Quality actress, and deserves all the recognition she can get for her role in this film.

And, everyone needs to look past her "age". She is not a child any longer, but a young lady who is starting to get much more mature and more difficult roles. Let her perform these roles and applaud her for her abilities. Same goes with the directors and writers of her films.

The fact of the matter is that child rape occurs even today, and if this is the type of film that needs to be created to bring that issue to soceity to open their eyes, then that's what it takes. I am against abuse of any kind towards children and I applaud anyone that brings the issue to the viewers to open their eyes and make them see what's going on in this world of ours and what's happening to our children, whether it be sexual, physical, or mental abuse.

I will support Dakota in this film and in any other roles she takes on in the future.
