She’s known for her large eyes and straight, blonde hair but, just the other day, Dakota Fanning debuted an entire new look. The star has chopped all her hair off for a new role she’s playing.

Photos of the star with a cute close cut like Emma Watson also rocked some months ago have emerged online, together with reports that she did it for a part where she plays a cancer patient.

While TooFab believes there’s a good chance that Dakota is actually wearing a wig, JustJared is entirely convinced she sacrificed her long locks for her art.

“Dakota Fanning debuts a new dramatic ‘do on the set of her latest film, Now Is Good, on Monday (July 11) in London, England,” the latter e-zine writes.

“The 17-year-old actress, sporting a blonde pixie cut, stars in the film about a girl dying of leukemia who compiles a list of things she’d like to do before passing away. Topping the list: losing her virginity,” JustJared adds.

At the same time, the Huffington Post says Dakota really looks good with this Mia Farrow-inspired cut, pointing out that, even if it’s for a movie role, she could consider keeping it after she’s done filming as well.

In other Dakota Fanning-related news, she unwillingly sparked quite a controversy last month, when her first ad for Marc Jacobs’ Oh, Lola! perfume came out.

Inspired by the character in Nabokov’s “Lolita,” the fragrance aims to capture that innocence in a woman that makes her as irresistible as she is forbidden, the designer said.

Because of that, 17-year-old Dakota was the perfect spokesperson for it, Jacobs said. As we also noted at the time, many disagreed with that, saying the ad was too suggestive and too inappropriate.

Some fans of the actress even accused her of selling out for agreeing to be the face of the campaign.
