It’s almost time for stars to get their dancing shoes on and fans to grab a bag of popcorn and sit comfortably in front of the TV: ABC’s 12 season of Dancing With the Stars is nearing air date and the cast has been announced.
This year, just like previous editions, comes with some surprises, though there are serious doubts as to whether any contestant has the potential to cause any major drama backstage.
Then again, you never know with these things.
After weeks of rumors and speculation on who should be included in the cast for the 12th season of the popular competition, the names are all in: among them we find those of Kendra Wilkinson, Chris Jericho, Kirstie Alley and Ralph Macchio of the old “Karate Kid” fame.
Of course, they are not all. Supermodel Petra Nemcova will be putting those legs of hers to use on the dance floor, while TV personality Wendy Williams will have to prove if she’s as skilled on the dance floor as she is with words.
The other contestants include professional boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard and football player Hines Ward (wide receiver for Pittsburg Steelers).
Non-athletes from the younger generation are represented by 22-year-old Disney star Chelsea Kane and 21-year-old rapper Lil Romeo, who is now known solely as Romeo, having dropped the “Lil” from his name.
Radio host Mike Catherwood has also been included in the official lineup.
E! Online got to speak with Kendra Wilkinson shortly after the announcement was made and, as expected, she sounded quite thrilled about the opportunity presented to her.
“I’m so excited to be on Dancing With the Stars!” she gushed. Seeing whether she has what it takes to outlast competition is something she’s looking forward to.
“It couldn’t have come at a more perfect time in my life. I’m almost back to my prebaby body so I’m excited for all the costumes! I’ve always loved the show, so it’s really cool I get to be on it. I have a competitive streak in me so I’m so excited to compete!” she says.
