People that don't have a Smart TV, and quite a few of those who do for that matter, employ set-top boxes to satisfy their TV needs. Boxee has just announced a new model.

Then again, it would be more accurate to say that the company has modified the name of the Boxee TV, to better fit what it can do.

Now called Boxee Cloud DVR, it allows buyers to opt for a free, basic cloud service where recordings made with the DVR can be stored in the cloud for free, but are limited to 5 hours a month and expire after 90 days.

Unlimited storage with no expiration term is still provided by a $10 service (there is a free one-month trial upon purchase of the Boxee Cloud DVR).

The price of the Boxee Cloud DVR stays $100 / 76-100 Euro. The cloud service is only available in 8 markets now, but it should reach 26 by year's end.
