Nintendo has been quite busy making announcements during the last few days. The company has confirmed that it plans to launch two high profile games during the coming months, with Metroid: Other M and Super Mario Galaxy 2 coming in May and June, and is now saying that those who are more interested in mobile gaming will be able to pick up the new DSi XL device starting with March 28 for 189.99 dollars.

The initial color schemes will be burgundy and bronze, and players will be able to get more options soon after the initial release. The new device, which has been available in Japan since the fall of last year, has a screen area almost 100% bigger than that of the older DS Lite configuration. Nintendo is also saying that the viewing angle has been improved and that the stylus packed with the DSi XL is better suited for touchscreen input.

The company is packing quite a bit of software in the fresh gadget. It comes pre-loaded with Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters, Brain Age Express: Math and Photo Clock, the familiar Flipnote Studio applications and a browser. On the same date as the new handheld is launched, Nintendo also plans to out titles for it, like America's Test Kitchen: Let's Get Cooking and WarioWare: D.I.Y.

The DSi XL will arrive in the United Kingdom and Europe on March 5, with different color schemes and another software package pre-installed.

There are also rumors that the Japanese firm is actively working on a new generation of handheld, the Nintendo DS 2, which could include a rumble feedback function for the touchscreen and even an accelerometer for input through movement. It is not commenting on rumors related to it but an announcement might be made at the E3 trade show in June.
