Time for a PSP revival

In what is surely unpleasant news for Nintendo, its DSi handheld has lost quite a bit of its sales edge over the PlayStation Portable, despite the fact that the two top games in the chart have been developed for it.

Japan might be, at last, getting tired of the new device as most of the early adopters have already gotten it while other consumers do not see a reason to pick up the new DSi now and ditch their still quite capable DS Lite consoles that they bought probably around one year ago.

The Nintendo DSi managed to sell 38,783 units in one week, while the PlayStation Portable from Sony came quite close, with a little over 29,000 consoles sold in seven days. The DS Lite, which is now counted separately, also moved around 5,600 units in one week.

On the home console front, the Nintendo Wii is again the best performer, taking third place overall with 17,177 platforms sold, way ahead of the PlayStation 3, which managed to move 10,173 units. The Xbox 360 has seen a boost in sales, reaching 6,625 in sales, managing to beat the PlayStation 2, which is bringing up the rear with a little over 4,000 units in sales.

As far as videogames go, the collaboration between Square Enix and Disney is still selling well, with Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Day for the DS being at the top for the second week in a row, selling 106,000 units, while Ace Attorney: Miles Edgeworth, from Capcom and also for the DS, is second again with sales of 42,000.

Third place went to Koei's Shin Sangokumusou 5: Empires for the PlayStation 3, while the first new entry came at number four with Arc Rise Fantasia from Marvelous for the Nintendo Wii.
