Bioware talks about its plans for its famous RPG

Since Mass Effect was such a successful title, I believe that nobody is surprised to hear that Bioware is looking to milk as much money as possible out of their first game in the trilogy. With a PC version and a first downloadable content pack released, the developers of one of the most appreciated games ever are looking at the possibility of releasing even more downloadable packs in the future and, surprise - a DS version, too!

Although none of these things are officially confirmed, there is a huge possibility to see them sooner rather than later since a few days ago BioWare reps confirmed that the company was looking into "broadening" its portfolio. Now, talking with Eurogamer, Miles Holmes, lead designer of Sonic Chronicles said Bioware had a lot of big plans for Mass Effect and that a Nintendo DS version would be a great way to keep interest alive in addition to Mass Effect 2.

But these are not the only plans the company has for its fantastic RPG. In an interview with MTV Multiplayer Greg Zeschuk, BioWare's co-founder said that his company was "looking at" more Mass Effect DLC when asked about plans for the future:

"We're talking about that," he said. "You know how we are. We're always very circumspect until we can go "Aha! There it is!" With everything we build now, we want to have this long-term relationship with the customer and always have something for them to try. So we're definitely looking at that for Mass Effect."

This means that, in the (not so) near future, we'll get bombarded with game-related products, which is not necessarily a good thing - knowing that BioWare should keep enough materials available to them for the following two titles in the series (or even more, if things work out well for them). However, as I said, at the moment there is no official confirmation - we only know what the company's intentions are. But since some extra money is involved, we doubt they will not become reality.
