Not even bothering to count the sheer amount of games released for the Nintendo DS, we can happily report that the popular handheld is getting one more in February. Insecticide, from Crackpot Entertainment and Gamecock Media Group, will have players taking on cases, as they step into the shoes of rookie detective Chrys Lyst. February 12th marks the game's DS release, while the first "bisodic downloadable" PC episode" will become available soon after.

Insecticide combines third-person combat scenarios with platforming elements, while detailed detective sequences include interrogation, crime scene investigation and puzzle solving. The perfect game for the perfect handheld right? Well, maybe not but the touchscreen control scheme really does the trick for these kind of titles, I can tell you that much.

"The heart of classic detective novels and movies is to get the audience involved mentally, but now via PC and the Nintendo DS we can get players involved in a much more tactile arena," said Rick Stults, Console Chief for Gamecock Media Group, at the time they'd announced the game for PC and Nintendo DS. "The mouse and the stylus are the key to the 'touch and feel' experience we're really aiming for with this game and I think that's something players are really going to enjoy."

In February, bug detectives will be charged with the task of investigating a mystery of epic proportions. Crackpot Entertainment and Gamecock Media Group assure that classic-adventure elements are to be encountered, as well as action elements that will get your pulse to 1000 bpms. According to the official report, you'll find something totally different every step of the way, while putting together clues and using them in hunting down culprits, is the key to succeeding in this game.

Another interesting aspect, for the DS version especially is that Insecticide's interactive environments are fully done in real-time 3D, with the game featuring a ton of items, clues and weapons for many hours of gameplay. Insecticide for the DS also sports multiplayer game modes so rest assured, you have a busy, crime-solving spring ahead of you.
